Ellsworth Huntington essays Ellsworth Huntington was a geographer who studied human behavior. He began notice that people within the northern hemisphere where working harder than the people in the southern hemisphere. This when he began to first conceive a theory, which stated that any one who lived in the southern half of the world was genetically unable to work as hard as the people who live din the north. This theory was called environmental determinism. This theory has since been disproved however. This is due to the realization that the working conditions where less desirable in the south than the north.
